Man Stabbed in Providence Overnight

A man was stabbed overnight in Providence and transported to Rhode Island Hospital. 

According to police, shortly before 3:30 AM on Sunday, officers responded to 278 Webster Avenue for a 911 hang up.

Upon arrival, police were flagged down by a female subject who stated to police that her friend was just stabbed.

Police then observed a male subject to be bleeding from his chest and to have a severe laceration. Police also observed another male subject holding the victim in his arms. Police requested for a rescue to respond.

The woman told police that they were gathered on the second floor of 278 Webster Avenue when the victim stepped outside with another male subject.

Moments later she said she heard a loud disturbance in the rear of the building and observed the two men to be in a physical altercation when she stepped outside.

The victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for a stab wound to the chest.
