Woman Kidnapped at Gunpoint in Providence - Suspect Apprehended in CT

A kidnapping in Providence ended with an arrest in Connecticut on Thursday morning. 

According to Providence Police, officers responded shortly after midnight on Thursday to Crimea Street, off of Chalkstone Avenue, for a person with a gun.

Police said that witnesses told officers that a man with a gun had ordered a woman - a female in her 20s - into his vehicle and drove off.

The suspect was allegedly the ex-boyfriend of the victim.

A BOLO (be-on-the-lookout) was issued for the vehicle - a silver Jeep - by police to law enforcement.

 

Suspect Apprehended Out-of-State

According to WTNH in Connecticut:

Around 1:57 am, a Trooper located the vehicle at the Madison rest area.

It was occupied by a man and a woman, state police said.

The man was arrested and a firearm was seized, police said.

Additional information was not immediately available.
