Man Shot in Providence — Police Investigating

Providence police are investigating a shooting that occurred in the city on Saturday evening.
One man was injured.

GET THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS HERE -- SIGN UP FOR GOLOCAL FREE DAILY EBLASTShortly before 7 PM Saturday night, police said they were flagged down in the Columbia Park neighborhood -- by Michigan Avenue and Vermont Avenue -- for a report of a man suffering a gun shot wound.
According to police, the male victim, who is in his early 20s, was bleeding heavily from his right arm.
Police say the victim and witnesses were uncooperative.
Canvassing the area, police said they located numerous shell casings near an entrance to the park at Vermont Avenue.
A vehicle at the location also appeared to have sustained damage from bullets according to police.
The victim was ultimately transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.
Detectives are investigating.
