Shortly before 1 AM Saturday morning, police on patrol on Cranston Street said they saw a man running out of the parking lot at Flow Night Club.

According to police, he appeared to be clutching at an item by his waist, as not to drop it.

Police said they then saw a security guard running after the man shouting, “He has a gun!”

According to police, they pursued the suspect — later identified as Samuel Lavarin, age 34 — and observed him walking away from trash cans on Anthony Avenue before they apprehended him.

Lavarin was handcuffed and taken by police to Central Station.

Police say upon searching the trash bins, they found a loaded 9mm gun on top of a trash bag.

Suspect Threatened Security Guard

Following the incident, upon interviewing the security guard, police were informed that Lavarin had attempted to enter Flow Night Club with a gun.

The security guard told police he felt what was believed to be a gun while patting Lavarin down, at which time Lavarin fled; he said that when Lavarin turned onto Anthony Street, he pointed a weapon at him.

Detectives are currently investigating.
