Gun and Bomb Threat at Avon Cinema Monday Night, According to Police

A group of individuals entered the Avon Cinema during a movie Monday night -- and according to witnesses, said they had a bomb.
About Incident
Police were called to the Avon on Thayer Street shortly after 9:30 PM Monday night for an initial report of suspects with guns.

The audience of roughly 100 fled the theater, and some told theater management that the subjects had entered the cinema with guns.
The suspects then ran out of the theater and "took off down Thayer Street," according to witnesses.
Police said no firearms were located.
The Avon Cinema is an independent movie theater near Brown University on the East Side of Providence. The Avon's Art Deco styling dates from its opening in February 1938. The theater primarily screens independent, art house, and foreign films. The theatre has been owned by the same family since 1938.
The theater is owned and operated by the Dulgarian family.
Detectives are currently investigating.
