Sgt. Paul Zienowicz and Detective Dan O'Connell deserve credit for quickly solving the case and making the arrest -- a deed critical for the solace of the family and for the confidence of the community.

Providence Police have been understaffed and often lacked the support of Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza.

Despite the staffing shortfalls and the obstacles, they have continued to focus on their tasks at hand.

No one will ever think about schools being safe havens ever again, but thanks to the Department and Zienowicz and O'Connell, the scare may not be quite as pronounced.
