Councilman Correia Calls for Increased Police Presence in Manton Area
Monday, September 12, 2016
Councilman Michael Correia called on the Providence Police Department to increase its presence in the Manton area.
In a letter addressed to Commissioner Steven Pare, Correia references shootings, a car-jacking, and a motorbike fatality. He is requesting that "every available officer is immediately assigned to patrol" neighborhoods in the 6th ward.
“These incidents have caused alarm for residents and businesses throughout the area. These are neighborhoods where families live and children play, and the fear of violence is affecting our quality of life. We need a stronger police presence to send a clear message that violence and crime will not be tolerated in our community," said Correia.
