Student From Rhode Island Arrested in University of New Hampshire Fraternity Hazing Investigation

A Rhode Island man has been arrested tied to a fraternity hazing investigation at the University of New Hampshire (UNH).
Simon Roy, 20, of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, was among 19 arrests announced on Tuesday by the Durham, New Hampshire Police Department, according to multiple news outlets.
“Hazing is suspected to have happened at the university's SAE chapter house on April 13, at an event involving new members, police in the university's host town of Durham said in a news release,” reported CNN.

“The university's Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) chapter was suspended over the allegations, which were reported to the school by the fraternity's national organization, the school has said,” CNN continued.
The charge is punishable by a fine of up to $20,000 when brought against an organization, police said.
Emily C. Garod, the deputy county attorney for the Strafford County Attorney's Office told FOX13 News that there is 'no potential jail time' associated with the offense.
'Student Hazing is the only charges we expect to be forthcoming from this incident,' Garod said.
