About Incident

Shortly after 1 AM Monday morning, police responded to Manton Avenue for a report of an assault.

When they arrived, they found a man — the owner of the food truck — holding down the male suspect, later identified as Howard Rose, age 36.

The victim — a woman in her 30s — told police she had been cleaning up inside the food truck by herself when she noticed Rose outside sticking his hand in the truck, in what she believed was an attempt to take money from the register.

She said she told him to leave and called the food truck owner to tell him about the man, who then entered through the front door of the vehicle.

According to the victim, Rose came in with his pants down and genitals exposed, and then attempted to force himself on the victim.

The owner told police he arrived on the scene as this was happening and saw the victim trying to push Rose off of her.

The food truck owner said he tried to detain Rose and call police at the same time but Rose got away. The owner said that good Samaritans in the vicinity saw what was taking place and helped detain Rose.

It was at this time that police reported arriving.

Rose was turned over to detectives and is facing assault charges.
