The homicide is the city’s eleventh of the year.

At approximately 8:30 on Monday night, police were called to the scene where the victim was shot while walking near Ford and Dexter Streets.
Rescue transported him to Rhode Island Hospital, where he died during surgery.
Detectives are actively investigating, and anyone with information is asked to call the Providence Police Department Detective Bureau.

In May, community leaders and elected officials gathered at the Institute for Nonviolence to decry violence on the streets, following the worst shooting in Providence’s history.
"We can't accept the violence as normal," said Governor Dan McKee at the press conference.
