Newport is the 2nd Most Romantic City in the US

The ranking was based on three measures — the percentage of restaurants rated "romantic" according to OpenTablediner reviews; the percentage of tables seated for two; and the percentage of people who dined out for Valentine's Day last year. 

"For generations, people have celebrated love by sharing a meal at enchanting, elegant restaurants," said Caroline Potter, Chief Dining Officer of OpenTable. "The cities on this list, from the charming coastal community that is Virginia Beach to the top dining destination of Chicago, are those in which deliciously romantic dinners are de rigueur for couples in all stages of courtship." 

The most romantic - Virginia Beach, Virginia. No other New England location was selected.

Rose Island Lighthouse

Built in 1870, the Lighthouse can only be reached by boat.

Visitors have the option to spend the night as a guest.

Von Trapp Family Lodge

The Lodge is managed by the descendants of the famous Von Trapp Family, Sam and his father Johannes von Trapp.

Unique offerings of the Lodge include sleigh rides, cross country skiing trails, and maple sugaring spots.

If you're a beer snob, check out the Lodge's brewery, which produces traditional German and Austrian style lagers.

The meadow at the Lodge was one of the main sites of the Vermont Mozart Festival, which ran from 1974 to 2010.
