Every week, I attend at least one coaching call to keep myself aligned and on point in achieving my business goals.

Some weeks, I attend more, as I belong to several different Mastermind groups.

This past Tuesday, I was on a monthly “all up huddle” with my man Todd Durkin, and his network of coaches and fitness professionals, and he dropped some valuable nuggets that I want to share with you.

Even if you don’t own a business, these tips will give you some structure and focus on how to improve your situation in the new year. The title of Todd’s presentation was “7 Steps to Thrive in 25”.

Here are the steps:

1. Take better care of yourself. I have been standing on a soapbox for 30+ years preaching the importance of nutrition and exercise, however it goes deeper than that. Personally, I need better self care such as regular massages, so I made that one of my goals for 2025. Physical health is important, but so is mental health, therefore we need to focus on the thing that allows us to function at our peak performance. Take time to improve not only your physical health but your mental health as well. Read books, take quiet walks in nature, meditate, see a therapist, join mastermind groups, or do whatever it takes to recharge your brain while you build your body.

2. Take better care of your team. My team is my foundation, therefore I am always seeking ways to make them better, give them opportunities to earn more, and create an environment that they can thrive in. Don’t think that just because you don’t own a business, you don’t have a team. Your family, co-workers, friends, and people you hire, such as housekeepers and landscapers, are your team, so take care of them. It doesn’t need to be monetary, as a few kind words and gestures will go a long way. Don’t take people for granted, as nobody is self-made when you look behind the curtain.

3. Take care of your clients. Our #1 core value is to be grateful to our members as they pay our salaries and give us the opportunity to live our passion and purpose. It doesn’t matter if you wait tables or work at a convenience store as a cashier, you need to take care of the people that support your livelihood. Something as simple as a smile and a “thank you for your business” will go a long way and make someone's day. Be the reason they come back tomorrow!

4. Drive revenue. Money doesn’t buy happiness, but it will buy back your time, and create freedom in your life. Making more money eliminates the problem of not having enough money, therefore it is imperative that we get up daily and do things that will drive the needle forward. There are numerous ways to increase our revenue, but you need to be willing to put in the reps and stay consistent with whatever it is you do. Exceed expectations; don’t just meet them. When you dial in #1,2,&3, you are building the foundation to drive and increase your revenue.

5. Control expenses. Frivolous spending just adds debt and unnecessary stress to your life. Do an expense audit and eliminate the things that don’t add value to your life. Drinking, smoking, and fast food are all things that cost money yet cause a negative effect on your well-being. Do we really need 10 different subscriptions to watch t.v.? Trim the fat and watch your savings grow.

6. Increase your network. Remember, your network is your net worth. Who do you spend time with? Choose carefully and spend as much time as you can with people that lift you up. On the flip side, eliminate, or edit relationships that drain your energy, and negatively influence you.

7. Remember your dreams. Don’t rely on dreams to come true, unless you set the intention and take action. Every winter, I dream of living somewhere warm, and I am taking steps to achieve that goal before I am too old to enjoy it. If you dream of being fit and healthy, take steps today to put yourself in that position. The same goes for buying that dream house, or opening your own business. Dream, decide, then do what’s required to make those dreams come true.

So there it is.

A basic outline and strategy to implement, so you can not only survive, but thrive in 25.

Remember, when we fail to plan, you can plan to fail.

Use this as a guideline, and add your own spin to what it is you want to accomplish this upcoming year.

I found this call to be extremely valuable, as it helped me focus on a roadmap and create some structure to achieving some lofty goals in 2025.

I hope this adds value to you as well and that you lay the foundation for a successful New Year.
