High-profile smokes and smokers will be in Providence this Saturday

Providence is readying to host cigar afficianados from all over New England this weekend at the the New England Cigar Expo, when the Convention Center will convert into a smoking haven on Saturday October 15.

The first of its kind in Rhode Island, the Expo will host cigar manufacturers with special deals, and should attract as many as 1,000 true cigar lovers. It will also feature some high-profile cigar smokers, including Sopranos star Federico Castelluccio Furio, the Patriots' Patrick Pass and Fred Smerlas plus Patriots broadcaster Steve Deossie... and of course, Buddy Cianci.

The focus this weekend will be on only boutique brand cigars that support Brick and Mortar stores. Look for:

Drew Estate - "The Big Juicy" - one of their newest releases, featuring fruity flavor-infused Nicaraguan tobacco.

Rocky Patel - Honduran tobacco, very well-respected throughout the cigar world.

Casa Magna - Nicaraguan tobacco, mix of medium- to full-bodied with a lot of spice

La Flor Dominicana - one of the most full-bodied, flavorful Dominican cigars you'll ever smoke. Made by Litto Gomez and known for its spice! spice! spice!

7-20-4 -  7-20-4 used to be one of the largest manufactured cigars, pre-embargo. Kurt Kendall, owner of Twins Smoke Shop in NH, bought the defunct trademark and traveled the world to make it into the blend it is today.  It's a blend of Honduran, Brazilian, Nicaraguan, and Mexican tobaccos, all combining into one of the most well-rounded "perfect mediums". Kendall will be on hand this weekend to share his story (and cigars!).

7-20-4 1874 - Kurt Kendall's newest blend, you could call it 7-20-4 on steroids... not too full, but a bit heavier with more of a kick than the original 7-20-4.

My Father Cigars - Made by Don Pepin Garcia and his son Jaime Garcia... highly respected, consistent smokes, mostly full-bodied.

Perdomo - Nicaraguan, made by Nick Perdomo, and a mostly mild to medium smoke.

La Aurora 1495 - Miami Cigar & Company....medium to full-bodied, complex, rich.  Mostly Dominican tobacco with a mix of Nicaraguan filler and Ecuadorian wrapper.

Nestor Miranda Art Deco - Miami Cigar & Company... this cigar is the first of the Nestor Miranda Collection to feature a dual binder. The Dominican Corojo and a Nicaraguan Habano create a perfect mix of rich, medium-bodied flavors.

El Tiante - Made by Don Pepin for Louis Tiant (born in Cuba, known throughout the United States as one of the best starting pitchers in Major League Baseball).  This new release comes in 2 blends (one medium-bodied, one full-bodied more spicy blend).

San Lotano - one of A.J. Fernandez's latest releases - AJ Fernandez has been in the cigar world for a long time, and is really working his way strong into the New England market, the San Lotano comes in many different "bodies", all of which have very well-rounded taste notes with consistent burns.
