40 Rhode Island students placed in the top ten in the country in the SkillsUSA National Championships out of 87 Rhode Island students who competed.

The championships were held from June 24 to June 29, and saw a total of 6,800 students compete in 108 occupational leadership skill competition areas.

“SkillsUSA programs help to establish industry standards for job skill training in the classroom. These industry-driven competitive events are modeled after the Olympics where the top three individuals/teams receive gold, silver, or bronze medals,” says SkillsUSA in their press release.
