25th Annual Letter Carriers Food Drive Set for Saturday

25th annual Letter Carriers Food Drive set for May 13
The National Association of Letter Carriers and the Rhode Island Community Food Bank will host their 25th annual Letter Carriers Food Drive.

“Every year, Rhode Island’s postal customers are deeply dedicated to helping the hungry. They look forward to leaving out a bag of food for us to pick up and deliver to the Food Bank,” said Rhode Island food drive coordinator and veteran letter carrier Scott Desjarlais

The food drive is set to take place on Saturday, May 13 with donations of non-perishable food items will benefit neighbors in need throughout the state.

How it Works

Those who wish to participate can leave a bag of healthy, non-perishable food items near your mailbox early Saturday morning and your letter carrier will pick up your donation and deliver it to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank where it will be distributed to food pantries throughout the state.

Needed items include canned soups and vegetables, peanut butter, whole wheat pasta, brown rice, canned beans, tuna, and healthy cereals. As always, the food collected will be sorted by volunteers who check for use-by dates and damaged packaging.
