Two Rhode Island movie theaters have announced they will not be reopening.

“We would like to thank all of our loyal patrons for the many years you have supported the theater,” they said. “Unfortunately COVID-19 has made it economically impossible to reopen.”

Warwick Mall’s General Manager has said the Showcase Theater’s lease is up at the end of April. The theater has chosen instead to consolidate with its location on the Warwick/East Greenwich line.

The Showcase Cinemas in Seekonk are not listed on the parent company page; calls to Seekonk were not answered Thursday morning.
