Talbots in Newport to Close After 40 Years - Chase Bank Opening at Location

Women’s clothing store Talbots is closing in Newport after 40 years.
According to employees, the last day it will be open is September 9.
The Newport closure marks the second in Rhode Island this year; in January, the Providence Place Mall Talbots closed. There are two remaining locations Barrington and Cranston.

And according to employees, a Chase Bank is replacing the retailer.
Latest for Chase
It would mark the latest expansion of the the New-York headquartered bank in Rhode Island.
The bank recently established a branch on Thayer Street adjacent to Brown University, where the popular restaurant Paragon used to be.
In 2021, GoLocal reported that Rhode Island institution Kip’s Restaurant was forced to close for a new Chase Bank location.
