JWU Announces New Johnson & Wales Inn Ownership
Wednesday, June 05, 2013
Johnson & Wales University (JWU) has announced that its property in Seekonk, Mass., the Johnson & Wales Inn, has been sold to the Sarchi Group of Massachusetts. The Inn is now under new management and has been renamed the Hilltop Hotel & Conference Center.
The Future of the Inn
JWU first announced it was seeking new ownership of the facility in July 2012. “Due to changes in our academic programming, the Johnson & Wales Inn is no longer slated to be an active internship site,” said Michael Downing, JWU vice president of auxiliary services. “As the university’s first hotel internship property, the Inn, purchased in the early 1980s, has played a significant role in JWU’s history and has been an important venue to the local community. We are pleased that under the new management of the Sarchi Group the doors will remain open to welcome guests and host special occasions in the years ahead.”
As a condition of the sale, the Sarchi Group will honor all contracts, including pricing, for events scheduled at the Inn. Representatives of the Sarchi Group are also interviewing all current staff at the Inn for positions at the Hilltop Hotel & Conference Center.
