Paul Adler, General Counsel

Lifespan has named Paul Adler as Senior Vice President and General Counsel. The appointment will take effect on June 1. Adler will succeed Kenneth Arnold, who will retire in June.

Adler will serve on Lifespan's senior leadership team and report directly to Lifespan President and CEO Timothy Babineau, M.D.

“Paul possesses a wealth of health care legal knowledge and experience, as well as a thorough understanding of Lifespan and the ever-changing healthcare landscape. His business acumen and leadership will be critical in helping better position Lifespan for growth and its continued pursuit of excellence in health care," said Babineau.

Paul Adler

Adler has been with Lifespan for over 20 years and is currently Lifespan's Deputy General Counsel.

In his new role, he will be responsible for all aspects of the health system's legal affairs, including leading Lifespan's legal team, overseeing all outside legal services legal defense and strategies, governance, business review, labor law, regulatory corporate law, and advising on compliance and physician relations.

Adler is a graduate of Suffield Academy,  Duke University and the Boston University School of Law.

He started his career at Licht and Semonoff law firm in Providence. At the firm he focused in healthcare law and municipal finance law. He is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association.

He also serves on the Board of Trustees of Moses Brown School as well as on the Trustees Committee.

Lifespan

Lifespan is a five-partner not-for-profit health system based in Providence, R.I. Formed in 1994, Lifespan includes three teaching hospitals of The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University: Rhode Island Hospital and its Hasbro Children’s Hospital; The Miriam Hospital; and Bradley Hospital, the nation’s first psychiatric hospital for children.
