NEW: Snow, Sleet & Ice Forecasted for RI Thursday Morning

A mixture of snow, sleet, and ice could lead to a slippery commute in Rhode Island on Thursday morning, February 6.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter weather advisory that goes into effect at 1 a.m. on Thursday and remains in effect until 1 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

“Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute,” writes NWS.

NWS reports that there could be as much as two inches of snow and one-tenth of an inch of ice. 

According to NWS:

Thursday

Snow, freezing rain, and sleet before 9 a.m., then freezing rain between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., then rain after 10 a.m. Patchy fog between noon and 1 p.m. High near 42. East wind 3 to 6 mph. The chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half-inch possible.

Thursday Night

Rain. Low around 38. Light and variable wind. The chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Friday

Rain, mainly before 5 p.m. High near 42. North wind 6 to 10 mph becoming west in the afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 90%.
