Woonsocket AD Nasuti Passes Away

Woonsocket Athletic Director George Nasuti passed away Tuesday night, just 4 days after hitting his head while refereeing a youth basketball game in Burrilville.  He was 52.

Nasuti fell into a coma and had been staying at Rhode Island Hospital.  In addition to his service as Athletic Director, he was a former pricipal of Woonsocket High School, Coleman Elementary School and Bernon Heights Elementary School.

Nasuti served as AD in Woonsocket for over a decade, and was highly respected by his peers and students as an educator and a man.  He was the RIIL Athletic Director of the Year in 2010.

A Facebook group titled "Prayers for George Nasuti" was started after his accident, and over 1500 people had joined as of Wednesday morning. Many group members left heartfelt words for the Nasuti family, while former students and acquaintances shared examples of how Nasuti had made a positive impact on their lives.
