The Second Great Awakening. What a relief, the hunt for yet another Providence College Basketball coach is at least put on pause. Ed Cooley is back to Providence, but this time with a mission. Cooley put enormous pressure on his back the day he took the position that Keno Davis (2008 National Coach of The Year) failed in a matter of two years. I have been a Friar fan my whole life only to watch the team sink deeper and deeper. I know the players and it hurts to see them make dumb (preventable) mistakes around Providence. I think it is about time Friartown gets to once again feel the excitement and triumph of a winning season in the Big East Conference, and Ed Cooley has arrived with the answer.
"Let's Go Friars"
There is only one problem in the revival of Friar Basketball, when is it going to happen? The once loyal and proud supporters of Providence College Basketball are fading away. The ’87 alumni and boosters from Ernie D’s era are beginning to lose hope. The once lively roar of “Let’s Go Friars,” is becoming only a chirp. But with the release of Keno Davis and hiring of immediately popular Ed Cooley put all the negativity on hold. That is until the season gets off to a 0-3 record where fans then wait for Big East play, then after unsuccessful season they pray for there chances during the Big East Tournament.

After a while fingers begin to be pointed “Fire Driscoll!” “Cooley promised us to be the best!” chants will fill the Dunkin’ Donuts Center. You must remember the saying, when you point your finger, three are pointing back at you. Fans must look at the aftermath of each game to see if things are really getting better. Will Cooley be able to keep the players focused and out of trouble? Sign a big name recruit? The answer to all these questions can only be predicted. After all, there seemed to be some flaws in the 2008 Coach of the Year.
Cooley's Future
Does anybody have a prediction for the 2011 Coach of the Year? How does Ed Cooley sound? As far as I have heard Cooley is already getting down to business such as completing simple task Keno never did like checking up on players during their classes. Ed has many steps in bringing back the victories; so far he has stirred up excitement ready to be displayed at next years late night madness. There is much more Cooley has to deal with on campus, and he has to decide whether he is going to step in like hesays, giving the players 110 percent, or enjoying his Big East Coach nametag. I already know along with everyone else who knows him that Cooley is going to give his all as head coach and there will be no way he lets us down.
