Tennis HOF Championships: Top 6 American Players Coming to Newport

The Newport Tennis Hall of Fame Championships confirmed over a dozen names for the upcoming July 5-13 tournament, including the top 6 American players in the world rankings.
Number 1 American John Isner headlines the field. The 2011 and 2012 singles champion at the Hall of Fame Championship, Isner is currently ranked 11th in the world.
"We have a strong player field set for Newport in July," said Tournament Director Mark Stenning. "It's always nice to kick off the U.S. summer swing with the top Americans here in Newport just after the Fourth of July.”

Steve Johnson and Bradley Khan combined to win every NCAA singles championship from 2010 through 2012, and both will make their Newport debuts in this year’s tournament.
Jack Sock and Sam Querry are returning veterans of the tournament, and Donald Young, Ryan Harrison (a doubles champion in 2011) and Tim Smyczek round out the American names confirmed for the field.
International Additions
A wave of top international players have also committed to the Championships.
Nicolas Mahut of France won both the singles and doubles championships last year in Newport, and he returns as the player to beat in 2014.
Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus, Ivo Karlovic and Ivan Dodig of Croatia, and Lleyton Hewitt, Matt Ebden, and Nick Kyrgios of Australia join Mahut as international entrants.

The Tennis Hall of fame Championships is the only professional tennis tournament in North America that is played on grass.
