Davidson immediately opened a 20-8 lead before Rhody then ripped off an 11-0 run that included back-to-back steals for fast-break baskets by Cyril Langevine and Fatts Russell to cut the Davidson lead to just one point.

Davidson hit back with an 8-0 run of its own, but URI finished the half on a 6-0 as Russell hit a runner with four seconds on the clock to get the Rams within 30-27 at the break.

After the teams traded baskets early in the second half, Davidson super freshman Luka Brajkovic took over the game.

He had 18 points, nine rebounds and six blocked shots on the night. Once he did damage in the paint, it opened the outside for Davidson. The hosts hit six 3-pointers in the second half. Rhode Island was unable to answer the balanced Wildcat offense.

Game Notes

URI Junior Cyril Langevine led the Rams with 16 points and 14 rebounds. It was his 11th double-double of the year.

Ram's Jeff Dowtin finished with 13 points and five rebounds. He was the only other Rhode Island player in double figures.

Freshman Dana Tate scored eight points to go with nine rebounds. He had six points, four rebounds and one assist in 10 first-half minutes.

Davidson's guard Jon Axel Gudmundsson had a game-high 20 points. He was 3-of-4 from the arc and 9-for-10 at the line.
