Providence to host 2020 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships this weekend
The U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships return to Rhode Island this weekend for the third time in 12 years. This year’s event, taking place at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center from Feb. 26–29, is expected to generate $2.8 million in direct spending in the Providence/Warwick market.

About 3,000 athletes, their families, and coaches are expected to consume close to 5,000 hotel room nights in Providence and Warwick. The Warwick Figure Skaters are once again serving as the host organization and practices will take place on their home ice, Thayer Arena.

“Our city is excited to welcome the hundreds of talented skaters participating in the U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships, as well as their families and loved ones,” said Mayor Joseph Solomon. “While using our top-notch athletic facilities for practice during the competition week, I hope the athletes and their families explore our great city, visit some of Warwick’s fantastic shops and restaurants, and enjoy our city’s 39 miles of coastline. I wish each and every participant the best of luck and extend my sincerest congratulations on earning a spot in this prestigious event.”
