PC Wins on Senior Day on the Back of Brooks

Senior Day was a Super Day for the PC program amidst a difficult year. Senior Marshon Brooks hit a bank in the lane with 13 seconds remaining to lead PC to a come from behind win over Rutgers 75-74. PC now goes to the Big East tourney starting Tuesday - they finished the regular season 15-16; 4-14 Big East.

Brooks finished the game with a game-high 28 points and in the process became the all-time Conference single season scoring leader, surpassing Connecticut's Donyell Marshall's previous mark of 462 points.

In addition to scoring 20 points-or-more for the 25th time this season, Brooks also led the Friars with seven rebounds, five assists and three blocks.

On a bright spot, the second leading scorers were a freshman and a sophomore -  Vincent Council and freshman Gerard Coleman both finished in double figures as they each chipped in with 15 points apiece.

Second Half Success

The Friars outscored the Scarlet Knights 42-36 in the second half. PC trailed by 13 points at the 11:50 marks of the second half following a 13-7 push by Rutgers, which made the count 60-47.

Over the final 11:50, PC went on to outscore the Scarlet Knights 28-14. The Friars did not take the lead in the second until Brooks' runner in the lane. PC tied the game at 73 apiece with a 1:14 thanks to a 3-pointer from the corner by Bryce Cotton.

Coming into tonight's game, PC was 0-15 when trailing with five minutes to go. The Friars were also just 3-14 entering tonight's game when trailing at the half.

The Friars on Tuesday as they take on Marquette in the First Round of the BIG EAST Championship at Madison Square Garden. Tipoff is set for 9 p.m.
