UPDATED: URI Upsets #1 Seed VCU in A-10 Tournament

The University of Rhode Island looked deader than dead in February suffering through a five-game losing streak.

On Friday at a noontime match up with the #1 Virginia Commonwealth University the Rams battled VCU and came away with a monster upset win.

The Rams won 75-70.

Behind the scoring of Jeff Dowtin, the Rams controlled the game. He had 22 points.

Two of the URI freshman played big roles in the win. Tyrese Martin in the first half and Dana Tate in the second half.

But, as always Cyril Langevin dominated the boards. He had 9 boards

VCU led 37-34 at the half.

Fourth-seeded St. Bonaventure (17-15), which advanced to the conference semifinals for a second consecutive season with its win over George Mason, will face No. 8-seeded Rhode Island (18-14), at 1 p.m. Saturday (CBSSN) for a spot in the conference title game.
