The Red Sox franchise has lost one of its most beloved figures today, as Johnny Pesky passed away at the age of 92.

The former Red Sox infielder hit .313 in eight seasons with Boston, playing alongside fellow legends Ted Williams and Bobby Doerr. Pesky later went on to manage the club from 1963-1964, and also in 1980. All in all, Pesky spent 61 years with the franchise in some capacity, and the foul pole in right field of Fenway Park is even named "Pesky's Pole" in his honor.

Most recently, Pesky took part in the 100th Anniversary of Fenway Park Celebration, where he was wheeled out to 2nd base in a wheelchair. Known as a huge fan of the franchise, Pesky was often on hand for big moments in Red Sox history, including the the celebration Trot Nixon's career.
