The multi-faceted gift will have impact beyond Friar Athletics, by also providing support for student financial aid and the Ben Mondor Center for Nursing and Health Sciences, which is currently under construction on East Campus, says the college.

"This gift is a testament to a shared vision for taking Friar basketball to the next level.  In a short period of time, I have witnessed the incredible passion and support that Friar fans have for our program," said Head Men's Basketball Coach Kim English.

The gift breaks down into six categories:

Establishment of an endowed fund to support the immediate needs of the men's basketball program
Establishment of an endowed fund to assist PC students with financial need
Support for the Mondor Center for Nursing and Health Sciences building fund
Funding for the men's hockey team to use in addressing immediate needs
Funding for the women's basketball team to use in addressing immediate needs
Support for the Ruane Championship fund, which is used when Friar teams are competing in their respective NCAA tournaments

"By its comprehensive nature, this gift is certain to have a broad, enduring impact for generations to come. We are both grateful and humbled by this generosity," said Providence College president Rev. Kenneth R. Sicard, O.P.
