Thursday, June 20, 2013
Third-seeded Narragansett powered its way past Westerly in game one of the Division II baseball best-of-three title series on Wednesday night.
After the game was suspended Tuesday night with the Mariners ahead 3-0 in the fifth inning, Narragansett was able to finish off the job they started the night before, defeating the Bulldogs with a convincing 9-0 win.
Standout Pitcher
Narragansett is up 1-0 in the championship series thanks to starting pitcher Zach McKanna, who threw a complete-game no-hitter, completing the final four innings of work that were still to be played on Wednesday night. Behind McKanna's impressive outing, the Mariner's were able to tack on six more runs in the final four innings of play on Wednesday night, putting them one win away from a state title.
