Former PC Hockey Star Mark Jankowski 2026 Stanley Cup Winner With Carolina Hurricanes

Mark Jankowski, a four-year starter on the Providence College hockey team from the 2012-13 to 2016-17 seasons, earned his name on the Stanley Cup with the Carolina Hurricanes’ 3-0 win over the Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday night.

Jankowski, a left winger on Carolina’s 4th line this year, scored 1 goal and 4 assists in Carolina’s playoff run this season.  For the season, Jankowski scored 11 goals and 10 assists.

Carolina is Jankowski’s fifth NHL club.  He was originally a first-round draft pick of Calgary.  He has also played with Pittsburgh, Buffalo, and Nashville.  Jankowski is one of thirteen former PC hockey players who played in the NHL this season.

Jankowski was a four-year starter for the PC Friars and was named a second-team All-American in his senior season in 2015-16.  During his PC career, he scored 43 goals and 67 assists. He was also a key offensive left winger in PC’s 2014-15 NCAA championship season, scoring 8 goals and 19 assists.

Five former PC hockey players now have their names on the Stanley Cup.  Jankowski joins the group that includes Hal Gill, 2009/Pittsburgh; Chris Terrieri, 1995 and 2000/New Jersey; Peter Taglianetti, 1991 and 1992/Pittsburgh; and Steve Rooney, 1986/Montreal.

 

One of 35 to Win the NCAA and Stanley Cup

Hundreds of NHL players also competed in NCAA hockey, but only 35 have won both an NCAA championship and the Stanley Cup. Mark Jankowski now joins that select group.  Jankowski is the only former PC player to be a member of this group of players.
