Bullock Signs With PC
Six weeks ago Josh Fortune's teammate at Kecoughton High School (VA) made a verbal commitment to join Fortune at Providence College. Wednesday, he signed on the dotted line to do just that.
Friars coach Ed Cooley announced Wednesday that Rodney Bullock (Hampton, VA) signed his national letter of intent to attend PC next fall. The 6'-7" 210-pound forward averaged 14.3 points and 9.0 rebounds as a junior in high school last season. He is ranked as the 30th best power forward in the country according to Rivals.com and the 38th best power forward according to ESPN.com.

This was Cooley's quote on Bullock on PC's website www.friars.com: "I believe Rodney Bullock is a great rebounder who really pursues the ball," Cooley stated. "He also has the ability to score from all over the court. Rodney creates matchup problems for defenders. Most importantly, he brings the type of character and winning attitude that we want to have at Providence College."

6'-6" small forward Brandon Austin (Philadelphia) visited PC last month and has the Friars on his short list which also includes UConn and Texas. He is rated as the 13th best small forward according to ESPN.com.
Also according to ESPN.com, others who have been offered by and are considering PC include Keith Frazier who is the third-ranked shooting guard in the nation out of Dallas, Texas along with fellow shooting guards Martez Walker (Detroit, MI) and Shane Rector (Bronx, NY).

Small forwards Jamel Artis (Baltimore, MD) and DeAndre Bembry (Elizabeth, NJ) are also considering PC as is power forward Tony Trocha (Houston, TX).
When asked earlier this year how many spots the program had open for incoming recruits, Cooley replied, "as many as we need."
Cooley was obviously being facetious, but there is certainly a lot of truth to those words. When a coach is trying to build a program as Cooley is doing at PC, they can usually find ways to manipulate their rosters to bring in the players they would like to bring in.
Vincent Council is the only senior on the roster for Providence. He traveled with the team to Puerto Rico but will likely not play in any of the Friars 3 games there Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Some have speculated that Council (hamstring) could miss up to 5 weeks of action but that is merely speculation.
