Brown's Rally Falls Short, Lose to Harvard 31-17

Brown falls to Harvard 31-17
The Brown Bears football team fell to Harvard 31-17 on Friday night at Brown Stadium.

The Bears have now lost eight straight games to Harvard, with Brown’s last win in the series coming in 2010.

Brown falls to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the Ivy League.

Harvard improves to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the Ivy League.

Brown’s Rally Falls Short

Trailing 24-3 at the half, the Bears forced a Harvard turnover and took over possession on the Crimson three-yard line.

Three plays later sophomore quarterback Michael McGovern found Jaelon Blandburg for a touchdown with 6:57 to play in the third quarter.

The touchdown pass was McGovern’s first of his career.

The Bears would cut Harvard’s lead to one possession when McGovern hit Anton Casey on a 29-yard pass to make it 24-17 Harvard with 12:24 to go in the game.

However, the Crimson would answer.

Quarterback Jake Smith found Adam Scott for a 22-yard touchdown to put the Crimson up 31-17 with 4:11 to play in the game.

The Bears would not score the rest of the way.

McGovern completed 22 fo 43 passes for 293 yards and two touchdowns in the game.

Next Up

The Bears return to action on Saturday, September 29 when they host Georgetown.

Game time is set for 1 p.m.
