Brown Football Seeks to Beat Harvard for 1st Time Since 2010
Friday, September 27, 2019
The Brown University football team heads to Cambridge, Massachusetts on Friday night for its Ivy League Opener against Harvard University.
Brown has not beaten Harvard since 2010.
“For us, we had a short week of practice, playing Friday instead of Saturday, and I think the kids responded very well to practice. So we are traveling up there, Harvard Stadium is a great place to play, we are excited about the opportunity,” Brown head coach James Perry told GoLocalProv.

Brown vs Harvard
Brown and Harvard will meet for the 119th time on Friday night with the Crimson holding an 86-30-2 series lead.
Harvard has won the last eight games, including a 31-17 win at Brown last season.
The Bears last win came in 2010, when they beat Harvard 29-14 at Brown Stadium.
Brown Offense
The focal point of the Brown offense is quarterback EJ Perry.
In his Brown debut, Perry accounted for 410 yards of total offense (183 passing yards), and five touchdowns (three passing, two rushing) to give the Bears the win.
“We always say the jump from week one to week two is the biggest, and for us, that means playing in all three phases. When you talk to EJ, he is happy with how he played last week, but he is super competitive and he wants to make that jump,” said coach Perry.
At the wide receiver position, leading the way is senior LJ Harriott, who racked up three catches for 56 yards last week.
Junior Scott Boylan will look to build off his two-touchdown performance against the Bulldogs last week, after hauling in 30 passes for 355 yards last year.
Senior Jakob Prall recorded 25 catches for 394 yards and two touchdowns.
Brown Defense
The Brown defense gave up 30 points to Bryant last week.
However, Brown linebacker Jason Medeiros picked off Bryant quarterback Kory Curtis to end the game.
The Bears defense will be led by captain Michael Hoecht.
Hoecht led Brown with four quarterback sacks and 69 total tackles last season and had four tackles and a half-sack last week.
The Bears will also look to linebacker Brendon Pyne, who led the Ivy League in solo tackles last season with 48.
In the secondary, Brown will be led by sophomore corner Charlie Dallape and sophomore safety Clay Perrin.
Perrin made eight tackles last week against the Bulldogs, while Dallape added three tackles.
