Providence's Buddy Cianci was a two time convicted felon -- and in and around those indictments, was the city’s longest-serving mayor.

But, even Cianci never got the daily double — recalled from office and reelected in the same day.

In Fall River, Jasiel Correia was recalled and reelected on Tuesday.

Results: 61 percent of voted to recall Correia (7,829 to 4,911)

Results: Correia was the top vote-getter with 4,808 votes out of a field of five running for Mayor of the beleaguered south coast city.

New England Pols -- and Indictments

Boston Mayor Michael Curley was also reelected while he was under indictment in the 1940s.

In October 2018, Correia was arrested and charged with defrauding investors by the Massachusetts U.S. Attorney’s office announced.

According to a tweet from U.S. Attorney Andrew Lelling’s office, Correia used the “funds to pay for a lavish lifestyle and political campaign.”

Correia was arrested at his home by agents representing the FBI, IRS, as well as, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

According to the indictment, Correia is facing nine counts of wire fraud and four counts of filing false tax returns.

In the indictment, prosecutors allege that he misused $231,000 of the $363,000 he accepted from the investors in SnoOwl.
