“It has been an honor to serve the residents of Lincoln as your State Senator and I am proud to announce my candidacy for Town Administrator. I have worked hard on behalf of the residents of Lincoln in the Rhode Island General Assembly and I will bring that same energy representing Lincoln’s municipal government. Lincoln is a great place to live and do business in. Together we can continue to advance the strength of our community and I look forward to serving in this new capacity.”

Paolino says that he has been a strong advocate for the town of Lincoln working to ensure increases in education funding, millions in additional state aid for LHS construction and securing host community contributions from Twin River. These efforts have all led to keeping Lincoln's property taxes down. In addition, he has led on initiatives such as eliminating car taxes, ensuring financial literacy classes in school, repairing the Blackstone valley bike path, and merging fire districts.

“I am honored by the support I have received in prior elections and want to thank the constituents who have reached out encouraging me to take on this new challenge. The experience I have gained from the Senate as a leadership member of the finance committee and generally in the legislature will allow me to continue being a strong advocate for the town at the state level,” Paolino said.

Besides Paolino, former Democratic State Representative John Barr as well as Republican John Cullen, and independents Philip Gould and John Picozzi have said they are running.

The primaries are scheduled for voting on August 3 and the general election is on Sept. 7th.

At the local level, Paolino said that he wants to continue the good government and steady management of the town adding, “I want to thank Joe Almond for his commitment and leadership to the Town of Lincoln for the past 15 years. He has helped keep our town financially strong while making countless investments to ensure Lincoln remains a desirable location to live and work in. As Town Administrator, I will seek to continue this work and build upon it.”

In addition to these key priorities Senator Paolino said he is committed to:

  • Overseeing the Twin River expansion in a manner that ensures no adverse impact to the town and includes public safety improvements.
  • Investing in open space, parks and our bike paths to keep them well maintained and open for visitation to keep Lincoln as a top Rhode Island community.
  • Partnering with the building committee to ensure the final completion of the school construction project while making prudent investments.
  • Maintaining Lincoln’s commitment to dedicate a portion of Twin River revenues to capital projects bolstering the financial stability of the town and its assets.
