Lincoln Chafee

Former Rhode Island Governor and U.S. Senator Lincoln Chafee is slated to address the Rhode Island Progressive Democrats of America on Monday night.

The move is the latest from Chafee, who in July said he is considering a run for Governor in 2018.  According to a release sent by RIPDA, Chafee is supposed to weigh in on a number of timely -- and controversial -- topics.

In an email sent to RIPDA followers, Communications Director Nate Carpenter wrote, "I want to start by thanking everyone who came to the hearing in opposition of a new PawSox stadium. We packed the room, let our voices be heard, and testified late into the night...thank you again.

"I'm also contacting you as a final reminder about our monthly meeting with Lincoln Chafee.  He'll give us his take on the PawSox, single payer healthcare, and the Burrillville power plant."

Latest for Chafee

In June, Chafee told GoLocal that Governor Gina Raimondo is the "Hillary Clinton" of Rhode Island politics.

Chafee then called Raimondo "too cozy" with corporations in July -- and said he is considering a run for Governor.
