Is Hillary the Democrats Bob Dole?

Senator Bob Dole
This campaign as was the case in 1996, Republicans nominated someone who felt it was his "turn".  It was pretty obvious that voter enthusiasm was impacted by turning to an "establishment" candidate.  He was boring to say the least and he was one of those let's just get this over with already politicians.

Now we find ourselves in this election year cycle clearly influenced by calls for a shock to the routine way we choose our nominees.

Democrats had the opportunity and for a while it looked like Bernie Sanders would pull off the biggest political upset in history.  That did not play out as the Democratic National Committee all but guaranteed a Hillary Clinton win by sticking to its Super Delegate strategy and by its own admission working for only the Clinton campaign.

Oddly enough the Republican Party did respond to cries for a change by nominating the most unconventional of candidates in Donald Trump.  (For the record I was and am a Marco Rubio supporter).

Despite Trump's abundance of political gaffes and almost limitless questionable responses to the issues of the day, his numbers appear to be solid and likely rising as we get to the finish line.  Clinton on the other hand took August off, had her health in question, threw her best non-policy shot at him in September and now is having to answer to items in her political past.

So one has to ask, is Hillary Clinton the Democrats Bob Dole? If she ends up falling short, as he did, it will not be because the Democrats chose to go with the establishment candidate, it will be because the Democrats chose the MOST establishment candidate in history.  We are certainly in for a surprise come November 8th, with whomever the President-elect is.
