Some of her notable accomplishments have been
In 2024, she introduced new laws that make it easier for students to help with IEP (individualized education plan) physical education classes and requiring health care facilities to maintain a searchable price list for all facility items. She also sponsored a new law that prohibits contractors and subcontractors from paying employees the cash equivalent of any applicable health care benefit in lieu of purchasing the benefit.
Casimiro was also honored in 2024 by Adoption Rhode Island for her dedication to advocating for and helping children in state care.
Casmiro, in her announcement, writes:
For the past 10 years, I have had the privilege of serving House District 31 (North Kingstown/Exeter). It has truly been the honor of a lifetime. I believe I represented the district well, fighting for the things I felt were important to us and bringing financial support to the towns I have represented.
At this time, I am announcing my retirement from the House of Representatives. It is time for my husband and me to enjoy what we have worked so hard for - retirement!
I have been fortunate to have had an amazing relationship with former SpeakerJoe Shekarchi, which has helped me pass some strong legislation. I very much loved serving under his leadership as he truly had a member-driven approach to legislating and always had an open-door policy…he was always accessible. I will miss working under his leadership.
North Kingstown currently has an open seat in District 32, which will be filled by a newcomer who has to learn how to navigate the General Assembly. We also have two senators who are in and out of political Siberia and unable to always deliver for us. That said, I believe the voters of House District 31 need to elect someone with experience who can deliver for our communities. We need someone who can hit the ground running!
Thank you, District 31, for placing your trust in me for a decade. It means so much to me, and I hope that I made most of you happy with what I delivered for our community. Thank you for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime.
