United States Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) is calling on U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo — along with Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg — to testify before Congress on the supply chain issues facing the country.

Scott first made the appeal last week — and is making it again.

“We now have simultaneous crises: a crippled supply chain that can't deliver on time, or at all, and massive inflation that's crushing Americans with skyrocketing prices,” said Scott in a statement from his office. “Inflation hurts everyone, but it's most devastating for America’s poorest families, like mine growing up.”

“The American people need answers,” said Scott on Thursday. “Last week, I called for Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo to testify in the Senate Commerce Committee on how the Biden administration is addressing supply chain issues that will only further fuel inflation.”

Scott’s comment come following the latest Producer Price Index (PPI) release on Thursday from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), which showed that inflation continued to rise in September increasing 8.6% over the year.

Latest for Raimondo

This week, Raimondo’s office issued press releases on her meeting with the French Minister of Economy, her deputy secretary meeting with the Brazilian Deputy Minister of Economy, and NOAA climate website updates.

Raimondo spoke with PBS News Hour’s Judy Woodruff this week about the supply chain issues.

“I will say this is, within the administration, a 24/7 effort on our end. You know, the ports will go 24/7. We're at 24/7. It's incredibly complex. All of these supply chain issues we are grappling with are incredibly complex,” said Raimondo. “So, as I say, there is no one fix.”
