GOP Calls on McKee to Fire Craddock, Governor Referring to HR
Monday, April 25, 2022
On Monday, Attorney General Peter Neronha announced that DMV Administrator Walter Craddock will not be criminally charged related to an alleged prostitution operation going on at Craddock’s property.
Neronha indicated that “there were multiple red flags” to suggest “Craddock likely had reason to suspect that this was not a legitimate commercial enterprise.” Furthermore, Neronha stated that some of Craddock’s answers to the State Police “strain credulity.”
The R.I. Republican Party released the following statement:

Either Craddock knew there was illegal activity going on his property or he should have known there was. Basically, that is what the Attorney General said in his report.
The question now is whether McKee will fire Craddock. If McKee does not fire Craddock, then either McKee is a fool who believes Craddock is completely honest or McKee is fine if a member of his administration turned a blind eye to human trafficking.”
Neronha wrote in his report, "That Mr. Craddock 'should have known' or 'must have known' that commercial sex activity was going on at his 1732 Broad Street property is not the standard that this Office must meet. Rather, we must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he did know. And on the evidence presented to us by the Rhode Island State Police, that is not possible. There has been no record, witness, or electronic or other surveillance evidence produced that adequately establishes such knowledge beyond a reasonable doubt."
McKee Issues a Statement on Craddock
“In June 2021, the Governor requested the investigation into Administrator Craddock. Since that time, two highly respected organizations, the Rhode Island State Police and the Attorney General’s office have done a thorough review of the matter and concluded there was no criminal activity or evidence of wrongdoing against Craddock. This matter will now be referred to the state’s HR department,” said Matt Sheaff, spokesperson for McKee.
Craddock has refused to comment on Neronha's report.
