President Trump and former VP Biden

On Tuesday, GoLocal published a retrospective of the biggest blunders in American presidential history. All of those blunders pale in comparison to last night's Trump-Biden disaster, which provided the absolute worst performances in debate history.

Both candidates and the moderator were complete failures. But, Trump's performance will be used in college classrooms for decades as the "how not to debate" case history.

The historic blunders -- Al Gore's repeated sighing in his debate against George W. Bush in 2000 or Richard Nixon's sweating in his debate against John F. Kennedy -- were usurped in the first two minutes by the endless Trump and Biden missteps.

Loser: Chris Wallace

Fox News' Chris Wallace was ineffective from the beginning and played into and allowed the chaos to dominate the first presidential debate.

The NYTimes writes:

“Mr. President, I am the moderator of this debate, and I would like you to let me ask my question and then you can answer it,” Mr. Wallace, sounding more headmaster than moderator, instructed Mr. Trump early on.

Loser: Our Democracy

“I’m not going to listen to him,” Joe Biden said at one point to Donald Trump’s interjections. “Everything he is saying so far is simply a lie.”

At another point, Biden said, “Will you shut up, man?”

“There’s nothing smart about you, Joe,” Trump said. “47 years you have done nothing.”

“You’re the worst president America has ever had,” Biden later said.

Winner: Joe Biden

Joe Biden had the second-worst performance in the history of Presidential debates. Second worst.

In a normal time and in a normal debate, Biden would be the absolute loser. But, nothing about this period or this debate was normal.

Biden's performance would have been considered chaotic and infective in a regular debate. Biden called Trump a "clown" and told him to "shut up."

Biden was the winner only because Trump's performance was so ineffective.

Loser: Donald Trump

Oh, what could have been.

Trump could have won points on the economy, his support from police unions across the country and Biden's ties to the policies of Bernie Sanders and other far left-leaning supporters.

Instead, Trump had the worst performance in debate history.

Winner: Proud Boys and White Supremacy

White supremacy groups got a nod from President Trump. Instead of denouncing white supremacy, Trump badly stumbled.

“Proud Boys — stand back and stand by,” President Trump said after Democratic rival Joe Biden challenged him to condemn far-right supporters who have taken to the streets in recent months brandishing weapons.

Loser: Americans

"No one alive has ever seen a presidential debate like Tuesday night’s unseemly shout fest between President Trump and former vice president Joe Biden — 90 minutes of invective, interruptions and personal insults. It was an insult to the public as well, and a sad example of the state of American democracy five weeks before the election," said David Balz of the Washington Post.

Winner: Best Quote

“That was a hot mess inside a dumpster fire inside a train wreck," CNN's Jake Tapper told viewers.

"That was the worst debate I have ever seen, in fact, it wasn't even a debate. It was a disgrace."
