Richard A. Bernard, Jr. of Coventry Dies at 63

Richard A. Bernard, Jr., 63, of Coventry, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at RI Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Jody S. W. Bernard. Born in Providence, he was the son of Virginia (Carnevale) Bernard and the late Richard A. Bernard, Sr. Richard was an avid golfer. He attended Fairfield University, where he was a member of the golf team. He continued playing competitive tournaments around New England, where he excelled. He was a proud, longtime member of the Triggs Inner Club and served as an officer for many years. He was also a six-time club champion of Triggs Memorial Golf Course.
Richard was a part-owner of the H J Bernard Realty Co, Inc. He had a deep passion for music, even played in bands in his earlier years. Most of all, Richard was a family man. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. He was truly loved by all who knew him and will be sorely missed. Richard will be remembered as the ultimate gentleman.
Besides his wife Jody and mother Virginia, he is survived by his loving sons, Timothy M. Bernard and his fiancée Kelsi Rourke of Lincoln, and Richard A. Bernard, III of Coventry; cherished grandson Henry James Bernard; dear siblings, Susanne Suprock of West Kingston, Patricia Metcalf of Tampa, FL, Karen Bernard of East Greenwich, and Allison Bernard of North Kingstown.
Visiting hours will be held in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm, with a funeral service beginning at 7:00 pm.
