Owner of Bellini Jewelers & Army Veteran Angelo R. Lauro Dies at 87

Angelo R. Lauro, 87, of Providence, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 3, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

He was the beloved husband of Jean M. (Rachiele) Lauro for 65 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Angelo and Helen (Bellini) Lauro.

Angelo was the owner and operator of Bellini Jewelers in Johnston. He was a member of the RI Order Sons of Italy – Piave Lodge 364 and was Jr. Vice Commander of the National Order Sons of Italy. An Army Veteran of the Korean War, he served as Quartermaster for the State of Rhode Island Italian American War Veterans and was a member of the American War Veterans. He was also a member of the Rosario Society, Verrazano Committee and the NRA.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his four children, Stephen Lauro and his wife Gina, Cheryl Saccoccio and her husband Bill, Michael Lauro and Richard Lauro; and three grandchildren, Dana Saccoccio, Christopher Lauro, and Billy Saccoccio. He was the brother of the late Jeannine Duffy.

Visitation will be held Thursday morning, December 9, 2021 from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. in the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, 639 Mount Pleasant Ave., Providence.

Entombment with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery – Our Risen Christ Mausoleum, Cranston.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Angelo’s memory may be made to Amedisys Foundation, One Catamore Blvd., East Providence, RI 02914.

At the family's request, all those attending are kindly asked to wear a face covering.
