Maria L. Branco, of Cumberland, Dies at 80

Maria L. Branco, 80, passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, in Lincoln Wood Health Care Center, North Providence. She was the wife of Jose R. Branco. They have been married for the past 60 years.

Born in Sobral de Lagoa, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Caetano and Maria Branco. Maria came to this country in 1968, settling in Cumberland.

She was an avid gardener and loved her flowers. She enjoyed dancing, baking, cooking, but most of all she loved taking care of her family. Her children were her pride and joy. Her laugh would light up the room.

She was employed by Providence Braid Co., Pawtucket for 32 years until her retirement.

Along with her husband, she is survived by her sons; Jose R. Branco Jr., of North Providence, and Antonio Branco and his companion Erin McCaffrey of Cumberland. Her brothers and sisters; Francisco, Eduardo, Caetano, Jose, Graziela Branco, along with several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Margarida and Maria Branco. She was the mother-in-law of the late Anabelle Branco.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to Maria's Life Celebration to begin with Visiting Hours to be held on Saturday, April 3, 2021, from 2 pm to 4 pm and continue on Monday, April 5, 2021, at 9 am from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1 Fatima Drive Cumberland. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.

The family wishes to give a special thank you to the staff of Lincoln Wood formerly Hopkins Manor, especially Tascha, for their compassionate care.
