Ellen Bernadette Langton, born and raised in Providence, passed away peacefully on her 87th Birthday, September 19, 2021.
Ellen was the daughter of parents from Ireland, the late Thomas E. and Ellen (Connolly) Langton. She was predeceased by her beloved sister, Mary and her brother, Thomas A. Langton.
Ellen was a graduate of St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing; received her Bachelor's degree in Nursing from Boston College and her Master's degree in Nursing from Boston University. She was a longtime nursing Professor at the Community College of RI. Ellen was revered for her hard work and persistent kindness as a dedicated Volunteer for decades at the Better Lives RI (formerly PICA) Soup Kitchen.
She is survived by her wonderful family members in Ireland, her endearing friends, caring neighbors, and her loving circle of fellow teachers from CCRI. Her Soup Kitchen co-volunteers and the guests who dine there were continually moved by her quiet, spiritual humility and uplifted by her warm, compassionate attention. Special gratitude to each of her supportive caregivers in all departments at Scandinavian Home for helping her ~ particularly during the challenges of Covid 19 visiting restrictions.
