Jaime M.C. Simas, of Swansea, Passes at 68

Jaime M.C. Simas, 68, of Swansea, passed away peacefully with his family beside him at home, Tuesday afternoon, April 27, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Maria Filomena (Grilo) Simas.

Born May 12, 1952, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, he was a son of the late Eugenio Quental Simas and the late Maria P. Costa.

Jaime had a generous spirit and always made people around him feel special and welcomed. He was the most humble and selfless person, who loved his wife, children, and grandchildren above all.

He worked as a printing pressman for more than 40 years before retiring. He played soccer with the Lusitana Premier Soccer Club of Cumberland.

In addition to his wife of 47 years, he leaves three children, Pamela Simas of Somerset, MA, Ryan (Beverly) Simas of Seekonk, and Melanie (Zon Walley) Simas of Philadelphia, PA; 3 adored grandchildren, Issabella DeCelle, Adrianna Simas and Connor Simas.

He was the brother of Antonio Simas of Johnston, the late Maria Eugenia DaSilva, and the late Jose Eduardo Simas. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Friday, April 30, in St. Francis Xavier Church, 81 No. Carpenter St., East Providence.

Burial will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Visitation will take place in church before Mass Friday morning from 9 am until 9:45 am.
