Al began his career working at Players Corner Pub in Providence, from busboy to head chef over the years.

He purchased the store on the corner of Kenyon and DePasquale Avenue in 1983 where he once purchased penny candy from as a child.

He and his family owned and ran Iovino’s Market and Deli, until retiring in 2015.

Al was an avid reader and collector of vintage games and looked forward to every Saturday evening's “Svengoolie” horror movie of the week as he was a huge classic horror films buff. A great Poe fan he would spend many hours memorizing his classic poems. Al had a great sense of humor,  was extremely generous, and a true friend and cousin to many.
