Two Shootings, Two Stabbings in Providence Overnight

Providence Police responded to multiple shootings and stabbings in the city over night.

Two victims were hospitalized.

Shootings

Shortly before 3 AM, police responded to Miriam Hospital for a report of a possible shooting victim. 

Police met with the victim, a male in his 20s, who said his vehicle had been struck by gunfire.

According to police, the victim had scratches to his face from flying glass from his windshield where the bullets struck. 

The victim told police he had gone to a party on Evergreen Street, and was shot at while sitting in his car on the corner of Camp Street. 

It was determined the victim sustained injuries to his face but had not been shot. 

Police said upon investigating the scene where the victim said he had been shot, the found another vehicle with bullet holes. 

Shortly after 5 PM, police then to a report of shots fired on Hamilton Street in Elmwood. 

Police said that when they arrived, the area was quiet with no witnesses; police found a shell casing at the intersection Hamilton Street and Mitchell Avenue.

 

Stabbings 

Police responded to Elmwood Avenue at Parkis Avenue shortly after midnight for a report of a stabbing. 

The victim, a male in his 20s, said that he had been in an altercation with an unknown man when he realized he had been stabbed in the arm. 

He was taken to Roger Williams Hospital for treatment. 

Shortly after 3 AM, police downtown said they received a report of a stabbing at Kennedy Plaza. 

The victim — a male in his 70s — said he was at a bus stop when he got into a fight with a couple passing by.

According to police, the victim said the male suspect then pulled out an ice pick and stabbed him in the hand before stealing his wallet. 

The victim was taken by rescue to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.
