Two Life Sentences for Man Found Guilty of Murdering Brophy Baermann on East Side of Providence

The man found guilty of murdering then-24-year-old Miya Brophy Baermann on the East Side of Providence in 2021 was given two life sentences in prison on Friday — plus 50 years.
As GoLocal reported in June 2023, Isiah Pinkerton was found guilty of shooting and killing Warwick native Brophy-Baermann.
According to Brophy-Baermann’s LinkedIn page, she had just received her Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology — with a 3.94 GPA— from Northeastern University. She received her undergraduate degree from URI in 2019.

Multiple Charges
The indictment in 2022 had charged Pinkerton with one count of murder; one count of conspiracy to commit murder; one count of discharge of a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence, resulting in death; one count of committing a drive-by shooting; one count of conspiracy to commit a drive-by shooting; two counts of possession of a ghost gun; two counts of conspiracy to possess a ghost gun; two counts of carrying a pistol without a license; two counts of conspiracy to carry a pistol without a license; two counts of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person; one count of assault with intent to commit murder; and one count of discharge of a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence.
